Doc

Dr. Beatrice Wamey

President and CEO

Dr. Wamey, is the founder and current president and CEO of Nascent Solutions. Doc, as she is fondly referred to by her colleagues, started Nascent 14 years ago with the goal of empowering the vulnerable. With her leadership, Nascent has partnered with several organizations including USDA, USAID, DOD, her co-parishioners at the Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, VA, and Books for Africa, to bring positive and sustainable change in the fields of Education, Nutrition, and Agriculture, to rural Africa. Doc holds two Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees, one in Education/ Instructional Technology and another in Instructional Systems Technology, both from Indiana University, Bloomington. She is fluent in English, French, Oku, Lamnso, Noni, and Pidgin. Doc enjoys a good game of scrabble in her free time and her grandchildren provide the perfect escape from work.

Graham

Dr. Lennox Graham

Board Chairperson

Dr. Lennox A. Graham is an innovative educator and practitioner with extensive experience in the design, delivery, evaluation, and enhancement of effective instructional programs and management assessment models. He is a highly articulate and effective communicator with excellent team building and interpersonal skills; working well with individuals at all levels to accomplish strategic goals. As an Associate Health Manager and Outreach Director, he developed and expanded programs for scientific research; assisted in the education of new doctors in teaching hospitals; developed procedures for quality assurance, patient services, medical treatments, department activities and public relations outreach; and he has also participated in fundraising and community health planning.

Robert

Robert Chizimba

Chief of Party-Malawi

As the Chief of Party for Malawi, Robert leads the implementation of Nascent’s program in Malawi. He ensures the coordination of all project functions, including program development and implementation, program finances and administration, outreach and reporting, and program monitoring and evaluation. Robert has over 20 years of experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating health and nutrition, HIV and AIDS, agriculture and social and behavior change communication (SBCC) projects in Malawi. He has overseen numerous million-dollar projects in Malawi funded by organizations such as the Global Fund, USAID, European Union, UNFPA and currently, USDA. He has strong expertise in forging strategic partnerships with local leaders, project planning and implementation, human resource and financial management, quality assurance, advocacy and communication. He holds a master’s degree in public health from University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and is fluent in English and Chichewa.
Emily

Emily Maosa

Deputy Chief of Party-Malawi

Emily provides technical expertise and strategic management of Nascent’s program in Malawi. She has 20 years of experience managing projects supported by a variety of donors, including USDA, USAID, PEPFAR, Pfizer Foundation, and Crown Foundation. Her portfolio includes overseeing projects in food security and nutrition, education, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and livelihood. Her success forging partnerships with local government has resulted in an increase in reproductive health services and HIV testing and treatment for adolescents in some districts in Malawi. She holds a Master of Public Health from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom and is fluent in English and Chichewa.
Henry

Dr. Henry Njakoi

Chief of Party-Cameroon

As the Chief of Party, Henry leads the implementation of Nascent’s program in Cameroon. He oversees program finance and administration, coordinates all program activities, and liaises with local government, international partners, and other NGOs. He brings over 20 years of experience as an international development program manager with more than 15 years at the director level. Before taking over from Mr. Bernard Ndi, who had managed Nascent’s Cameroon country portfolio for more than 12 years, Henry served as Country Director for Heifer International in Tanzania where he grew the organization’s portfolio from $1 million to over $25 million with a local staff of more than 65 people. Henry has worked with a vast cohort of donors including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, International Fund for Agricultural Development, European Union, USAID, MasterCard Foundation, and the Starbucks Foundation. He has established partnerships with development INGOs in Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, United Kingdom, and the USA. He holds a master’s degree in development management from the University of London in the United Kingdom and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Henry is fluent in English, French, Pidgin English, basic Swahili, and several national languages.
Patrick

Patrick Gallagher

Senior Director- Monitoring and Evaluation

Patrick leads monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) at Nascent Solutions. He has worked in the public health, food security and nutrition, agriculture, and education sectors across sub-Saharan Africa, promoting MEL for organizational learning, evidence-based decision-making, and stakeholder accountability. Previously, he has worked with Abt Associates, the Carter Center, CDC, International Relief and Development, and the US Peace Corps. Patrick holds a Master of Public Health degree in global epidemiology from Emory University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame. In his free time, Patrick enjoys hiking and camping.
Eugene Da

Eugene Da

Senior Technical  Advisor- Literacy and Education

As the Senior Technical Literacy and Education Advisor, Eugene provides strategic direction and inclusive leadership in Nascent’s education portfolio, including quality supervision of Nascent’s programs and services to improve education outcomes. Eugene brings over 20 years of experience in international development in Africa, the Middle East, Haiti, and Eastern Europe, specializing in education, youth, and conflict resolution programs. Prior to joining Nascent, Eugene served as the Global Technical Advisor for education, gender and youth development with CARE USA where he successfully led the strategic planning process that resulted in CARE’s ten-year education strategy for girls. He holds a master’s in education sciences and a license in international law from the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso and is fluent in English, French, Bambara and Lobiri.

Regular Ndifor

Deputy Chief of Party-Cameroon

As the Deputy Chief of Party for Cameroon, Regular manages national programmatic planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for Nascent. She has 14 years of experience in project management, capacity building for local organizations, agri-business development and agricultural extension. Prior to joining Nascent, she served as a consultant for prominent organizations such as Plan International Cameroon, World Wide Fund for Nature and SNV. She has also led women empowerment, agricultural, social welfare, environmental protection, and education initiatives with Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) Cameroon. Regular holds a master’s degree in agronomy from the University of Dschang, Cameroon and is fluent in English and French.
wilfred Ballah

Wilfred Ballah

Program Manager-Liberia

As the Country Program Manager, Wilfred oversees Nascent’s strategy development and program implementation in Liberia. He has over 15 years of experience in program management, grants management, capacity building, and program monitoring, evaluation, and research. Prior to joining Nascent, Wilfred held leadership roles with prominent organizations such as the Open Society Initiative for West Africa-OSIWA, Geneva Global, Jhpiego, Right to Play, Plan-International and the Norwegian Refugee Council. He has also served as a psychosocial agent at the Center for Victims of Torture in Sierra Leone. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Sierra Leone and a diploma in grants management, program management and monitoring, evaluation and research.

Surabhi Bhattarai

Staff Accountant

As the Staff Accountant, Surabhi supports Nascent’s Finance and Accounting department by working closely for Corporate and Program side of activities. For the Corporate aspect, she assists the department by working closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, month closings, yearend closings, tax fillings and preparation, external audit preparation, tracking of HQ staffs timesheets, accrued leaves and payroll. For the Program aspect, she works closely with our field offices to compile and prepare their monthly financial reports, track the field offices budget, donor tax, and quarterly donor reporting for all programs. She has over 10 years of experience in Accounting and Finance in both private and nonprofit sectors. Surabhi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as well as a Master of Business Administration in finance and accounting from the University of Central Missouri. She is fluent in English, Nepali, Hindi, and Urdu.

Francis Kamuhanda

Research and Project Assistant

As the Research and Project Assistant, Francis oversees policy research, data reviews, and provides administrative support for various assignments, including proposal development, outreach initiatives, and communication projects. He is a skilled researcher with over 15 years of experience in education, leadership, child protection, social inclusion and equity, youth, and community development. Prior to joining Nascent, Francis held various positions, including Student Data Analyst at Western Michigan University, Principal at Sure Prospects School and Project Coordinator with Africa Village Ministries. He holds a Master of Arts in Measurement, Evaluation and Research from Western Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Makerere University and is fluent in English, Swahili, and Runyakitara
